The short version: the App collects nothing. Your videos, captions and projects never leave your Mac.
Easy Caption Pro ("the App") is a macOS application made by Easy App Company, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the App does with information, and what we hold if you write to us.
1. What the App Collects
Nothing. The App does not collect, transmit or store any of the following, and has no way to:
- Video or audio files you open in the App
- Transcripts and captions the App makes
- Caption styles, presets or projects you create
- Personal data such as your name, email address or contact details
2. Everything Runs on Your Mac
Transcription, styling and export all run on your Mac. The speech models (OpenAI Whisper, run with WhisperKit, and Meta's Omnilingual timing model) are built into the App, so nothing is downloaded and nothing is uploaded. The App has no internet access: the macOS App Sandbox blocks it from connecting, so nothing you make can be sent anywhere.
3. Files You Open
The App opens only the videos, projects and presets you choose or drag in. A project remembers where its video is so it can open it again. If a video is in iCloud Drive but not yet on your Mac, the App asks macOS to download it. The App doesn't use your microphone, camera, photos, contacts or location.
4. What Stays on Your Mac
Your projects, their thumbnails and waveforms, your presets and your
settings are saved in the App's own folder
(~/Library/Containers/com.easycaptionpro.app). Exports go
where you save them. While transcribing, the App keeps a temporary copy
of the audio and deletes it when it's done. A short technical log of each
transcription (timings, counts and the model used, never your words or
file names) stays in the same folder. Deleting a project removes its files; deleting
that folder removes everything. We have no servers, so we never hold a
copy.
5. Purchases
Plans are bought through the Mac App Store, and Apple handles all payment. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account credentials. 6. Diagnostics
The App contains no analytics, tracking or advertising frameworks, and we collect no usage statistics, crash reports or diagnostics of our own. If you have turned on Share with app developers in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage figures for the App. We use them only to fix problems.
7. If You Email Us
If you use Help > Send Feedback, or email us, we receive your email address, what you write, and the App and macOS version the message starts with. We use it only to reply, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
8. Children
The App collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
9. This Website
easycaptionpro.com uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts.
10. Your Rights
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at the address below. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes appear on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
